I have lived in Calgary all my life. I have always had a dog. One thing is for certain, dogs are part of our family. Living in Calgary affords me the added bonus of being able to have my dogs accompany me in a multitude of settings. The city’s fun and lively atmosphere seems to extend to our canine friends and dogs can be seen almost anywhere you see people these days. In fact, in today’s society, it is not uncommon for people to opt out of having children all together in favour of a lifetime commitment of doggy parenthood. People are living busier and busier lives and incorporating your canine friend into your daily tasks is a necessity many pet owners face. Not only are dog parents taking their dogs more places, but its actually trendy to include all the adorable activities your furry friend gets up to throughout the day.

Calgary dog owners are no exception, and our vibrant city offers countless dog friendly activities and venues throughout the year. On May 26th, 2022 Alberta passed a bylaw allowing eateries to no longer require a health inspector’s approval to allow canines to accompany their humans on outdoor patios. This was met with resounding enthusiasm from pet parents, allowing them to incorporate their dog into many more social settings and granting fido a free pass from being left home alone. Breweries, pubs, and posh brunch spots are just a few great places to try, and some spots even offer dog friendly menu options and complimentary bowls of water, such as Prairie Dog Brewing and Monki breakfastclub & bistro.

There are also many great dog activities and adventures throughout Calgary that are geared specifically for your furry friend. From pet festivals like PET-A-PALOOZA to doggy daycares, like Muttley Crüe to private off leash dog parks like Barrett Dog Sports & Off-Leash Area. Calgary offers a wide variety of things to do with your dog. Did you know that Calgary has 157 public off leash areas throughout the city? No matter where you live, there’s a dog park near by! Many parks offer hundreds of acres of fenced, free running space, safe swimming spots and great views. Here's a list of the Top 10 Off Leash Dog Parks in Calgary by Mobile Dog Grooming Calgary.

Consider a dog park for your next first date as a casual, safe, and fun option to break the ice. Who doesn’t love to chat about their best friend while taking in some gorgeous sunset cityscapes? Of course, if you decide to leave the city without Fluffy, Calgary has many wonderful businesses offering safe and affordable pet boarding as well, like Chasin' Tails and Sleep Rover.

In conclusion, whether you’ve lived in Calgary your whole life or are just visiting, including your best furry friend in your daily life has never been easier in this every growing city.
